Hi, I’m Yue Zhang, a Ph.D. candidate in the Cyber-Physical Systems Group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), supervised by Prof. Matthias Althoff. I joined the group in March 2026.

I received my M.Sc. in Mechatronics and Robotics from TUM in December 2025. I wrote my master’s thesis at the Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Systems (AIR) under the guidance of Kejia Chen, supervised by Prof. Alois Knoll and Prof. Sami Haddadin. Before that, I did my semester thesis and worked as a student research assistant at KI.Fabrik (MIRMI) on multi-modal demonstrations, teleoperation, and cable manipulation. I received my B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2020.

My research focuses on safe physical human-robot interaction, with interests in energy-aware control, compliant control, and robotic manipulation.

I supervise master’s and semester theses. If you are interested in these topics, please email me a short introduction with your transcript and CV. Current topics are listed on my group page.
